Is coaching right for me?

Is coaching right for me? Three simple questions to ask yourself

Investing in coaching can feel like a big decision.

It’s a different kind of decision compared to traditional learning methods such as attending a training course or a conference, coaching is personal, it’s 1:1 and you are held accountable to your development throughout the process.

But how do you know if it’s right for you? Well I’ve pulled together three simple questions to ask yourself to help you make the decision.

  • Are you open to change?

Coaching is a lot about self-reflection and challenging your own assumptions and beliefs. If you come into coaching with a closed mind-set you won’t be open to changing your behaviour or challenging your limiting beliefs.

Change and your openness to change is key to effective coaching that results in you achieving your goals.

  • Are you ready to invest in yourself?

By investing in yourself I mean beyond financial investment, although this is an important element to consider!

You need to be ready to invest your time, including your time beyond the 1:1 coaching sessions, in between sessions you will have work to do to move towards your goals. If you aren’t committed to working on yourself between sessions what you achieve will be limited.

You also need to be ready to invest effort, to truly achieve change you need to get outside of your comfort zone, and that isn’t always easy. Coaching might even make you feel a little uncomfortable at times too, if you feel this way great! You are being stretched and challenged to think and feel differently which is all part of the process of achieving your goals.

  • Are you willing to put the work in?

As mentioned above coaching isn’t a magic wand, it won’t solve your problems and move you towards your goals without your full commitment to the process.

You need to commit 100% to coaching sessions, but coaching is only one part of the process. You need to put the same amount of effort in between sessions to ensure you stay on track to achieving your goals.

So in many ways, coaching is a big decision, it’s a decision to invest in yourself like never before.

If you’ve read the above and feel ready to take the next step into coaching, I’m available to book a discovery call with to explore how we can work together to meet your needs.

Look forward to speaking soon.
